Test Notes

I was happy to click into this ski every chance I got. Confidence inspiring at half throttle, the Faction Mana 2 was right there with me when I decided to turn it on. It was most impressive while wiggling through tight trees in search of the last vestiges of a pow day, and both fun and capable in all types of conditions and terrain, from the groomers to the glades to the steeps. But best of all, it was a no-nonsense sender that shined brightest in soft snow and embraced the sensation of stomping a big air, which there’s nothing quite like. To generate enough velocity in a short flight to make your jacket flap in the wind, only to abruptly transfer all that energy directly through your skis into the snow, and have it all be absorbed while leaving you unscathed is always incredible to me. The Mana’s poplar core facilitated such a feeling, and its rubber/carbon stomp pad sucked up all of the landing impact from one of my favourite sends of the season. All in all, I'm pretty excited to get back on this ski. —John Truden

Pros

  • Stable, nimble and playful.
  • Loves to be in the air.
  • Confidence inspiring at all speeds.

Cons

  • A traditional freeride skier may prefer a more directional ski.
  • Its desire to be in the air may make it feel like too much ski for an intermediate.

What type of terrain is the Faction Mana 2 best suited for?

Groomers, glades and steeps, but it was most impressive in tight trees and when launching big airs.

What type of snow conditions is the Faction Mana 2 best suited for?

It's fun and capable in all conditions, but shined brightest in fresh or pre-loved pow, along with hard-packed corduroy, ice and corn snow.

An advanced to expert skier who loves to show off under the lift.
