PEOPLE LIKE US

Directed by Ryan CollinsPeople Like Us delves into the implications of being a gay man in Revelstoke, B.C., while seeking to frame a larger picture of queer life in a small mountain town.

Through the film, Ryan connects with professional athletes such as Lily Bradley, Hank Stowers and Bruce Johnston, as well as local skiers Jasmine Clancy, Janet Wong, Queershred Revelstoke and the non-profit Open Mountains Project. As Ryan actively reaches out to members of the local queer community, he builds a better understanding of the shared queer experience. In doing so, People Like Us celebrates the existence of queer folks in non-urban settings, and shows that healthy queer communities can flourish in small towns.
